The Akwasti Program |
Ondakwastakwi Onteskwet is a Huron-wendat expression meaning "In the inner beauty of happiness, they grow old". From that phrase, we named the Akwasti program.
This program is designed to help the frail and elderly who qualify for admission to a long term care facility, but who prefer to remain at home. The name of the project reflects the spirit of community in our organization.
Akwasti uses a combination of highly trained volunteers, caregivers and home support services, giving individuals the choice of remaining in their homes until the end of their lives if they wish. Quality of life is the core of this program. |
